Greetings, and welcome to the land of New Technical Notes. We belive that the new organization you’re about to use will make your life far easier, and we hope you’ll be happy with it. Technical notes remain essentially the same - they will continue to be the place to look for tips, tricks and workarounds; we intend to keep them fun and informative. The real difference is in how they’re organized and kept up to date. But more on that in a minute.
Technical Notes are for you, and as such we want to make them as usefull to you as possible. As such, your oppinions are critical to our success. I want to encourage you to send comments and questions to me so I can make Tech Notes the best they can be for you. I can be reached at the following adresses:

Here’s a high level look at the changes you can expect to see:
• Organization New Tech Notes are organized by documentation category instead of by number; Macintosh Technical Notes will follow New Inside Mac’s categorization. This has the dual advantage of providing consistency across documentation and logically grouping related information.
• Integrity As volumes of New Inside Macintosh are released, information that is duplicated in the Tech Note Library will be removed. The goal is to have one authoritative citation for any piece of information.
• Access Over the course of the next year, progressively better indexes will be available for Tech Notes. Improved Abstracts and “At a Glance” lists of contents will also be appearing.
• Format The layout of Tech Notes is remaining essentially unchanged, however they have been modified to print correctly on both US Letter and A4 paper sizes.
Please check out the indexes included with the Tech Notes; they’ll be helpfull in adjusting to the new organization (yes, there is a designation to number index).
